DAC-NOTE Web Design
Project Overview
DAC-NOTE is a tablet-based CAD application designed to streamline on-site infrastructure inspections for field engineers working on bridges, tunnels, and dams. The product was originally developed in Japan by a former field engineer and had strong real-world utility, but all product information, branding, and sales materials existed only in Japanese.
As Lead Designer, I led the end-to-end design of DAC-NOTE’s English-language brand presence to support expansion into North America and other English-speaking markets. This included the product website, information architecture, UI visuals, and sales materials, all rebuilt to meet the expectations of a Western, evidence-driven audience.
The goal was simple but challenging: make a highly specialized, technical product understandable and compelling within seconds.

Research & Discovery
A key challenge was bridging the gap between Japanese and North American communication styles. Japanese product sites tend to emphasize detailed explanations and dense content, while North American users expect clarity, brevity, and immediate value.
To address this, I:
Audited existing Japanese materials to identify core product value
Researched comparable SaaS and field-tool platforms used in North America
Identified the key questions English-speaking engineers and decision-makers care about most (time savings, accuracy, usability, and proof)
Information Architecture Strategy
Rather than translating existing content, I rebuilt the information architecture from scratch. The site was structured around a linear problem → solution → benefit flow, allowing users to quickly understand:
What DAC-NOTE does
Why it matters in the field
How it improves efficiency and accuracy
Quantitative proof points (e.g., time saved, error reduction) were surfaced early to align with the expectations of North American audiences.
Final Deliverables
Website Design & Implementation
I led the design and implementation of the English-language DAC-NOTE website, from wireframes through high-fidelity design and Framer build.
Key outcomes:
A streamlined, scannable layout that communicates value in seconds
UI-first visuals paired with real inspection-environment photography
Clear, benefit-driven messaging focused on field efficiency and simplicity
Responsive layouts optimized for desktop, tablet, and mobile use in real-world scenarios
Subtle, SaaS-style interactions and scroll-based animations for a modern experience
Messaging & Visual System
I crafted concise, outcome-focused messaging to replace long, explanation-heavy content. Headlines and CTAs were rewritten to clearly communicate benefits such as reduced reporting time and improved on-site workflows.
Visually, I developed a cohesive system using:
App UI captures
Iconography for quick comprehension
High-contrast typography and spacing for readability
A unified color and visual language designed for global use

Sales Deck for Global Expansion
I also led the redesign of the English-language sales deck, restructuring it into a concise, decision-maker-friendly narrative:
About → Problem → Features → Key Benefits → Proof → Contact
The deck uses minimal text and strong visuals to allow stakeholders to grasp the product’s value quickly, supporting business development and outbound sales efforts.
